Organisation fact sheet

The FSB Racing team at the Croatian Student Association of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering (CSA-FME) represents one of the most passionate student teams in Croatia dedicated to designing, manufacturing and racing in single-seat racing cars.

So far the FSB Racing team has built four racing cars and successfully participated in three Formula Student international student racing car competitions, as well as in the BOSCH Elektromobil racing competition for battery-powered racing cars. The team’s latest great achievement was winning the 24th place in competition with 103 international racing teams within the Formula Student Competition 2012 at the famous Silverstone Racing Circuit in the UK.

The Formula Student, the Europe's most renowned student motorsport competition, challenges university students across the globe to design and build a single-seat racing car, under the assumption they have been engaged by a manufacturing firm to produce a prototype car for evaluation. The target features in car design and construction focus on low-cost production, easy maintenance, reliability and high technical performances. Besides manufacturing the car, students must present a business plan for its market placement and test its performances in a series of static and dynamic events such as Design, Cost and Presentation Judging, Brake and Noise Test, Sprint, Acceleration as well as Endurance and Fuel Economy. The Formula Student competition has been organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the UK since 1998. More information on the competition is available at http://www.formulastudent.com/home

The FSB Racing team drives its passion for racing car construction from the opportunity to apply engineering theory to practice, master key skills for the motorsport industry and acquire real-world engineering experience along with critical business skills such as project and time management, fundraising and marketing. Their successful participation in international racing competitions adds further value to their efforts through student and professor community-building and teamwork, international professional networking opportunities and introduction to the motorsport business and industry.
