Taking the standardized Croatian language test at Level B2

Foreign citizens are required to take the standardized Croatian language test at Level B2 (citizens of EU member states and third country nationals) starting with the 2013-2014 academic year.

Foreign citizens are required to take the standardized Croatian language test at Level B2 (citizens of EU member states and third country nationals) before entering the first or the second year of undergraduate or graduate study in accordance with the decision made by higher education institutions, starting with the 2013-2014 academic year.

The higher education institution decides on which study programmes require taking the Croatian language test at Level B2.

The candidate is not required to take the test if they have passed the test of this level earlier or if they can provide other evidence of their knowledge of the Croatian language, on which the higher education institution is to decide.

Instructions on how to apply for the Croatian language test at Level B2:

  • To enter the first year of study, while applying for a study programme in the Central Application System, www.postani-student.hr, in the link ”My Timetable“, information is shown on the required additional testing of candidates' knowledge. Through the system, candidates apply for both the required additional testing and for taking the Croatian language test at Level B2.
  • To enter the second year of study, the students who entered the first year of undergraduate professional study without taking the Croatian language test in the 2013-2014 academic year, on condition of taking the test to enter the second year of study, directly apply for taking the test to the National Center for External Evaluation of Education in the following link: http://www.ncvvo.hr/drzavnamatura/web/public/home (according to the instructions given in the section INI hrvatski B2).The tests are taken according to the same schedule that applies to the candidates entering the first year of study.
  • To enter a graduate study programme, the students who completed an undergraduate study programme abroad directly apply for taking the test to the National Center for External Evaluation of Education in the following link: http://www.ncvvo.hr/drzavnamatura/web/public/home (according to the instructions given in the section INI hrvatski B2) and they take the tests according to the same schedule that applies to other candidates. The decision on whether the students who completed an undergraduate study programme abroad are required to take the Croatian language test is made by higher education institutions.

The tests are taken in written form in Zagreb.
